The button down shirt: is one of the favourite shirt of most people, men or women. It has a button down collar which has points fastened down by buttons on the front of the shirt. It was introduced in the US in 1896 and patterned after the shirts of polo players and were used exclusively on sports shirts until the 1950s .

Style Advice: The button down shirt is still considered to be a more sporting style, and particularly outside America, traditionally dressed men still do not wear suits with this style of shirt.
