Letter print - numbers print

Alphanumeric is a collective name for the letters of the alphabet and the digits 0 to 9. There are thus 36 alphanumeric characters, or 62 when a distinction is made between upper and lower case letters. The word 'alphanumeric' is a combination of Alpha (the first letter of the Greek alphabet) and 'number'. 'Alphanumeric' must be distinguished from alphabetical and numerical. For example, the word is used in the phrase "Alphanumeric sorting".

The appointment in alphanumeric sorting is that first sort the letters in order of the alphabet, then the numbers from low to high. If both letters and numbers appear in the word, the "character-by-sign" method is usually used, where punctuation, capital letters and spaces are not taken into account unless explicitly stated otherwise.
