What is a Dobby design?
Dobby is a woven fabric produced on the dobby loom, characterised by small geometric patterns and extra texture in the cloth. The warp and weft threads may be the same colour or different. Satin threads are particularly effective in this kind of weave as their texture will highlight the pattern.
Polo shirts and Dress shirts are usually made with dobby.
Piqué fabrics h2 are a type of dobby construction. The Piquet weave: a dandy weave: warp threads, thanks to a higher tension, lower weft threads, creating the typical wavy effect of Piquet. For a soft and higly detailed shirt.
What does Piquet fabric mean?

Piquet fabric (or Piqué)

is a cotton fabric weaved so as to have raised ribs, or cords of typically rhomboid design and generally white in colour.

It is a fabric made of two warp threads (one taught and the other slack) used for weaving two patterns (background and filling). The taught, background warp threads lower the weft threads as they pass through the weave creating a depression, while the slack threads remain on the surface in relief.
This creates a quilted effect which is enhanced by the soften filling thread. The result is an almost embossed fabric, soft and light, traditionally white or pale in colour.

What is the difference between a dobby and a jacquard?

The main difference between a dobby and Jacquard loom is how the warp yarns are moved up and down. ... That, combined with the loom only being able to hold a certain number of harnesses limits how complex a pattern can be. Dobby looms are best used for simple geometric patterns because of the limitations of the harnesses.
The
dobby weave
is considered a "fancy" weave because it generally has unique geometric patterns in the fabric. This is accomplished using a special loom that raises and lowers the warp threads individually, allowing the weaver to create distinctive patterns. Dobby fabrics come in all kinds of patterns, colors, weights and hand feels.
Dobby weave has unique geometric patterns into the fabric. The solid colors tend to have a faint stripe or dotted patterns woven in the same color as the base cloth. This is accomplished using a special loom that raises and lowers the warp threads individually. Extra patterns, extra charm.
That’s the right fabric if you’re looking for a shirt:
  • For everyday business looks
  • For ceremonies
